GARDENING

I have put off tackling the tale of the garden - but here goes.  It might run to 3 or 4 posts.  There have been hints about gardening in my 'since arriving in Greece' posts, but here, now, is the whole story.

F is a gardening addict.  Strange addiction but I have analysed it for years and always arrive at the same conclusion.  She digs around in dirt, makes and applies compost, preaches at length on the benefits of organic mulch, takes walking tours of the neighbourhood just to look at developments in the local tended gardens, sows seeds and nurtures seedlings, takes cuttings, prunes, weeds, sweeps around, picks rubbish out of, occasionally waters and spends ages contemplating gardens.

She spends money on plants.

She started an allotment blog in Havant - but seriously!?!  She doesn't devote enough time to my secretarial services, so how can she blog about vegetables, seaweed, horse manure and insect hotels AND do all that gardening as well?

Therefore I guess it was only going to be a matter of time (and a very short time at that) before she found or created a gardening project here in Piraeus.  Potted plants on the balcony were never going to be enough for a woman who gardens with a long handled shovel.

I dig, but she digs big.
