Our visit to Ancient Messini was on a grey day into which it could have rained at any minute. We more or less had the whole place to ourselves so I got to visit all of it starting with a theatre.
It turns out that 3 or more different cultures built, rebuilt, changed, contributed to or adulterated this site. So there are layers of human history here.
No one records the feline history; no record of what we contributed to the lives of the people in these societies. There are a few effigies to some distant relative on another branch of the family 'CAT' but I got the distinct impression that where cats are concerned, if you aren't BIG you don't count in human history. And even then the BIG cats are only some kind of symbol of human power over other humans.
