F pointed this out as we passed this morning, the Big Ben cafe with its lovely frothy coffees is no more. The space it's tables occupied on the plakia has been taken over by another establishment. The cafe itself, across the road, is completely stripped out - completely - only one sticky sign remains in the window above the door, a faded picture of Big Ben.
Maybe they were struggling and the lockdown was a deathknell - or a good time to call it quits. Who knows? Despite the name they didn't appeal to tourists; they were just a leaning bar for locals and a few tables on the square for encumbered passers-by like us and others we met with baby buggies or with small children who wanted to scream around the adjoining playground.
OK so now the hunt is on again for a good outdoor spot where no one could object to a cat with good-manners taking his milky coffee froth (and maybe a small ham sandwich) alfresco.
Work just got challenging. F has tipped up all the chairs except hers and the covered one to stop me testing them. Not fair.
Kyrios Tigger, I am sorry to hear you have to search for another steki which serves a capuccino with finesse and tidbits to your taste. You may have to spend some hours sampling new locations and brews. Get F on to it right now, or else.
