Slalom ride
to work today
Tables on
the pavements
Waiters in
white aprons
First
coffees of the day
Taken
sitting down
With a cigarette
And friends
Cars parked
three deep
Especially
on corners.
"Kalimera, Angie"
Shouted across traffic.
Discarded masks
Under foot
Discarded masks
Slalom ride
to work today.
Wasn't that a lot of fun
ReplyDeletesomething new you haven't done

I bet it brought you cheer
To hear your name

Lets enjoy our coffee now
freedom's just begun
Loving it. You should put more in your blog.
DeleteI read on another blog that your restrictions are being eased
ReplyDeleteIt might be nice to get back to normal life
But here we are being very careful
Everyone is worried about a second wave of infections
F and i have been going to the office since 18 May but we are the only ones there. Life has looked fairly normal except for cafe tables which reappeared again on 25th. And extra cars parked at weird angles suggest people are again driving into Piraeus to work. Not to be ones to give up on any potential trade but still comply with rules, the cafes appear to have simply spread the same number of tables over bigger areas - which was why we had to slalom Donkey between them to navigate our way down town.
ReplyDeleteNot like that here in Melbourne. Slowly Slowly is our Premiers mantra!
ReplyDeleteFooty fans are happy though - it's back in a modified form very very soon!
We guess that we could all watch sport on TV - not the same atmosphere for players or supporters, but at least it gives another kind of reassurance to people who feel their lives have simply been on hold; "flying in a holding pattern waiting to land" (Maybe we could challenge Linda to start a poem with that line).
ReplyDeleteLand, band, sand
DeleteI'll have to find my thinking hat
To make a poem out of that
and demand hand cand...oooo (can do?) OK cats don't do rhyming poetry
ReplyDeleteor do they? - F just told me about Dr Seuss and the Cat in the Hat. Apparently she hated that book when she was a kid.
