Alpaca

F's knitted an alpaca.

The label on the yarn said ECO ALPACA.

ECO what?

Ecomonical?

Ecological?

Ecogenia (Greek word for family - see I'm learning some)?

Ecosuggestions ....

All I know is it's a sack coloured Alpaca and full of holes.

...and will be as warm and cosy as your furs are for you, Mr T; remember we hyoomons need to add stuff to our skin to keep the heat in! Alpaca is one of the best fibres for that and I love the stitchig that F has used. This looks 'lush'!!! Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx

    1. You mean it might be moving in with us? And there was me thinking alpacas live in mountains. F says make one slip one knit one psso (which she assures me is not rude) one way, and make one purl 2 tog the other. Like the meercat says in the tv advert: simples. Good luck with that. Furrings and purrings Mr T😽

    1. F won't let me near it - she says I'm shedding too much fur. Having said that I caught her musing the other morning on whether, had she kept all the brushings, she would have enough of my fur to spin and knit into a jumper. I'm stripey but a jumper out of my brushings would be dull grey if stuff going into the compost bin is any indication.

  3. It means it’s going to get cold sometime soon Tigger and you’ll be retreating to the warmth under the doona ......and maybe snuggling into the folds of that there Alpaca. When F hasn’t got it round her neck that is.

    1. It doesn't get cold here - not proper cold. I think F made it because the yarn was heavily discounted (people of Piraeus don't need woolly jumpers it seems) and she prefers to knit with wool/alpaca, than cotton or anything synthetic. We have got a huge basket full of knitted wooly garments and blankets, and no one to wear them. A stockpile for a return to a cold place perhaps.

  4. An Eco Alpaca - hmm trying to think hard over this one but it looks cosy that's for sure.

    1. F thinks the ECO signifies 'undyed' in this case. We've had some ECO wool too and it definitely was not dyed.

  5. I have kept some fleece from my alpacas from a clip they got a few years ago. I plan to learn to spin it and then knit it into a scarf

    1. When that craft room is finished (and winter is over, and we aren't all feeling depressed about the daily news) all sorts of amazing things will come out of it. That's kind of how we feel about delayed projects anyway...
