We haven't had municipal Christmas lights on ur street before this year. Well not while we have been here anyway. It's our third Christmas in Piraeus.
We went out to strolling under the lights (taking exercise, with a pet, permit 6)
F and Mr B take a coffee cup and a spoon each, and put me in the backpack, and we go and get ice cream at a parlour along the street. I'm no fan of ice cream but I like sitting on the beach while they stuff their faces with it. The girl in the shop knows us now - I guess not many people bring their own bowl and spoon, and a cat in a backpack, when they come out for ice cream after dark in the middle of December.
Love your last sentence - no wonder the shop girl knows you! Mxx

ReplyDeleteOoh, posh cups!
ReplyDeleteCharity shop treasures.
DeleteI’m pretty sure my aunt and uncle took me for a walk along that street when I visited
ReplyDeleteIt’s around the corner from their house
I wonder if they get their ice cream from the same place
Akti Themistokleus. At the naval college end it is cheek by jowl seafood tavernas with great views of Aegina and Salamis.
DeleteOh I bet you three will go down in history!
ReplyDeleteA Tigger in a tote and eating ice-cream in a winter, omg. It used to be such a no-no, the ice-cream, not the Tigger. You couldn't even find ice-cream here in winter when I first came. Everyone believed ice-cream in winter gave you a sore throat and the dreaded lurgy.
Lovely lights. Our municipality has put up some sort of Deco but we haven't been out after dark to see them down town.
Merry Xmas!
This place has always been closed in winter. This year they do take away coffee, i guess to try and make up for what must have been an awful summer. You have such fabulous ice-cream parlours on the quayside in Poros. I had never seen 68 flavours of ice cream in a single place before and there are how many - 3? - making similar claims to varieties avalable! Have a great Christmas and a new year better than this one.
DeleteYou don’t like ice cream???? You don’t know what you’re missing Mr T
ReplyDeleteMost of my feline friends (moggies....or should I say magnificent striped kitty cats with a letter M on their foreheads.....as well as beautiful Burmese) have luved it.
Yeah well I've gone off custard, yoghurt, cheese, and will only condescend to lick butter occasionally. I've never been motivated by food treats so they've had to get creative if they want to motivate certain conduct or behaviour. I believe I've trained my humans well.

ReplyDeleteDunoon town's seasnal decs this year are very muted compared to the usual. A sign of the times? I love to see that you have a 'promenade' not unlike our own here!!! Mind you, going along to the local refreshments outlet and then taking whatever to sit on the beach would certainly engender gossip; for it would entail thermal clothing, gloves, hats, waterproofs, wind-breaks...
Plenty folk do walk their pups along the shore, though. Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx
Dearest YAM-aunty, given that locals are all in puffer jackets, heavy coats, long trousers and boots, F still in shorts and t-shirt is a bit stand-out gossip worthy. Our neighbour has claimed bragging rights - when people tell her they've seen a strange foreign woman out with a cat on a carriage she says casually 'oh yes, she's my friend'. Mind you I thinking our neighbour is possibly a bit nutty too. Get out your thermals and take a walk on your wild coast. Enjoy your sprouts. Furrings and purrings from Mr T
