We found a shiny beetle, some Bird's-Foot Trefoil , and a little olive tree that someone had released from the acacia and 'pruned' (possibly with less than ideal equipment).
F must have already known about it because she took a little saw on our walk and tidied it up a bit.
We guess the tree was no accident where it is growing; there are some bits of timber around it that suggest at some stage someone had tried to 'protect' it (possibly from over-zealous wielders of tools for clearing acacia and long grass.)
Oh wow now you have your own little olive grove. Are there remains of any other trees there ?
ReplyDeleteA single swallow does not a summer make... this poor little tree isn't exactly a grove and it will be years after we've left before it is providing any decent shade, but it is showing signs of producing some fruit.... xxx Mr T
DeleteWe love the way you go on walks, we would never be so brave.

I'd be a lot braver but F won't let me out of her sight. She's afraid I'm so deaf I wouldn't hear her calling me to go home. A couple of years of feigned deafness hasn't been such a clever idea after all. xxx Mr T

ReplyDeleteNothing like a bit of prune and preen whilst out for a walk, eh?! Hope it rewards you with some olives before too long. Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx
Tigger, i don't know many cats who go on walks, that is amazing. so is a volunteer olive tree. that is something we don't have here and have not seen before. I do love to eat olives..
ReplyDeleteI hope the little tree survives
ReplyDeleteIt will be a blessing to animals and humans when it’s big and strong
