Parking Ticket

On Saturday we saw another Pireaus first for us:  we saw a parking ticket being issued. Furthermore it was being issued right in front of our balcony so we didn't even have to go anywhere in breach of lockdown rules to see this remarkable first.

Guess which vehicle it was?

It was the second consecutive morning they've arrived and occupied that spot on a no-parking curb. We reckon someone called the parking-policing people about it because they never patrol round here and having arrived, the bloke on the motorscooter ticketed the badly parked offender and rode off again despjte the fact that a short distance up the street is a raft of double-parked street blockers he could have levied a year's wages worth of parking fines from.

  1. hmm yeah that's a bit of what we call asshat parking, I hope the person had to pay to get it back, bet Tigger was amused.

    1. Amused alright. We had seen it parked like that (only worse) the previous day too when we came back from the beach. One of our neighbours shouted down from her balcony as we were standing contemplating it and F and Tigger did a little street mime about badly parked cars. Maybe she was the one who called the police when it came back the next day.

  2. Yeah for the person who called it in!! Serves the bugger right. However, they could/should have ticketed some of the others too.

    1. We have seen police removing the number plates off a badly parked car in town. Apparently it costs Euros150 to get them back, but we think someone has to object before the parking police step in. So it pays to be really good to your neighbours we guess.

  3. Perhaps they will now join the double parkers further up the street?

    1. We suspect they aren't local - probably why someone felt safe calling in the 'police'.

Tigger, that so resembles what goes on outside the Hutch! Double yellow lines are seen as "look here's a space" instead of DON'T, and then thecfolk coming out of the little lanes cannot see or turn properly into our street. Like you, we have never seen a warden. There were police cones put along them at one time... and parkers just moved them onto the side!!! Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx

    1. hahaha - our 'cones' are bolted to the street and have little concertina bases so they spring up are people drive over them (or park on top). They don't even have to get out of their cars to move them. xxx Mr T

  5. in our town if you park in a no parking your car is towed away and it cost many many dollars to get it back. they don't just take the plates. how fun this happened in your viewing space and no leaving home to see it... theses days we spend our spare time, watching the cars that live at the house accross the street. 6 adults 7 cars live there. the are endless entertainment to us. Yesterday they came home without the Audi convertible with a new Chev Camaro Convertible. Fed X came and pretty soon we watched one of them use a fancy sprayer to wash two cars and another used the new lawn mower that came the day before... so thankful they are there for us...

  6. 7 cars, 6 adults? Seriously? Maybe it's an insurance discount deal.... We had two cars and two motorbikes for 2 adults and on the basis you couldn't be both driving and riding at same time the insurance was way cheaper by packaging a car and motorbike together. Mostly the motorbikes just formed alternative places for the Tigger to sleep (in the garage under covers, so it was easy for him to claw his way up and sit on top).

  7. Looks like you only get a ticket if someone has a whine about it
But seriously don’t park on the sidewalk

    1. It's true - you do - so it pays not to have UK number plates when you park badly here. We do have so park wisely and legally, but that ute was Greek so he must have really upset someone.
