Lurking about in the Gulf when we emerged onto the balcony on Tuesday was a many masted sailing ship. It was too far away to get a decent photo on her phone so F decided to deal with cat food (naturally I agreed with that as a priority) and take my leftovers downstairs for the rabble, and photograph the ship when it got nearer.
While she was downstairs the tugs came out and towed the sailing ship away 'quick smart'. By the time F got back it had disappeared from view round behind the apartment with the cactus laden balcony.
Chasing after it on her bike didn't seem to work (and it involved going the wrong way along a one way street), and before too long she again passed my viewing point, this time going in the right direction. She was probably headed off to a circuit of the docks to see where it was berthed.
She did get photos of it being turned and poked into one of the berths at the cruise ship terminal.
This is what we had seen at sea....
(Sorry about the red funnel on the ferry behind it. Photograph composition-wise, you have to take what you can get....those mast would have been great against an uninterrupted sky)

That's the Royal Clipper, cruise ship extraordinaire! Tigger, I's all aquiver that you got to spy this and am most grateful to F for chasing it down. I may even be a tad jelly green...my shipping views of late have been very few and rather dull. Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx
Close up it is not looking very Royal at the moment. It needs a jolly good paint job. Furrings andd purrings Mr T
DeleteWhat a strange looking ship, with all those masts. I think I would be chasing it as well, trying to get a photo.
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a ship, it almost looks Asian I think
