Lights

From a distance a line of lights of the horizon is an extension of the narrow light-studded ribbon girdling the adjacent island.

A chain of precisely spaced bright spots like deck lights on a container ship.

Starlink - at sea - but fixed.  Unmoving.

Unmoving tonight. Tomorrow they will be in another sector of my view; sometimes close, usually further away.

Close up, they are not a chain but dotted about and attended by a couple of small 'shepherd' fishing boats.

We have looked and wondered during this season for 3 years now and we know at last that they are brightly lit set-nets for fishing.

Fish (some fish) must be like moths.  If you go by the marina of enormous motor boats on one of these warm evenings, some of the boats have exotic under their stern platforms - blue, pink, warm light, cold white - some have spotlights shining out of underwater portholes.  The water glows with their light and with the sparkles of shoals of small fish attracted by the fairground's promise.

Tonight the fishing nets are off Aegina in the direction of Poros.

Well, that is fascinating - and pretty! Yes, I like the 'starlink' reference, too. Entirely appropriate. Any closer to knowing the fish that are caught though? Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx
