Agios Vasilios

Via another devious route home this week we stopped in the big plaza in front of Agios Vasilios.  We see this church every day as it is one block further up the hill than our turn off to go home.

This day we carried on one more block and sat a while in the paved plaza in front of the big church.  If the view was anything to go by, Agios Vasilios of the patron saint of kids learning to ride bikes, overseen by mothers sitting on park benches in the shade of the surrounding trees.

And a lone pigeon unafraid of cats and kids on bikes it seems.....

  1. That looks like a good spot to sit and watch. Actually, I could do with a place like that to practice riding my bicycle.

    1. Those kids are like exocet missiles without the guidance system. You need the car park at the cruise terminal - much smoother, much bigger, and populated by fewer moving disaster zones.

When you lack a bike park, you use the plaza, right? Nice shots, though.

Tigger, I hope you don't mind if I point to my own post today... it is on an important subect that all bloggers (and SocMed types) ought to think about. Our digital legacy.

I went to the doctor and got 4 prescriptions. Have Sinus infection, swollen tonsils, fluid in both ears. So thankful for doctors and meds

  4. I used to take my kids up there now and again ... Half a century again. I love plazas, unless I want a quiet coffee. The main one here is always full of yelling kids once the sun goes down. People, kids to watch and tsk tsk about now I'm an oldie

    1. We get the impression the Greek culture embraces yelling kids (like Italians do as well). At least kids here learn from young what being social means, how important it is. I bet there are fewer societal misfits here.
