On a clear day you can see all the way to....

... well Hydra.  At 0700 this morning we could just about count the wind turbines on St George's islet way, way, way down the Gulf.

Low lying Poros, usually lost against the background of the Peloponnese, stood out in green and gold glory, a patchwork of sunshine and shadow.  We could just about see people waving from their balconies on Aegina - the nearest island.

The photos don't do it justice (and putting them on blogger hasn't helped - they looked clearer before we posted them) but we enjoyed the view.

Take it from me, Tigger, as one with similar styles of view, rarely does presenting them on the blog do them any justice at all... but it is still a way to convey the essence of where one lives and to the untrained and home-locked eye, to see far off places this way is manna from travel heaven!!! 1. We can see general outlines of this view most days, but seldom the detail on land that yesterday revealed. xxx Mr T & F

  6. I love it when the atmosphere is so clean that you can see for miles and miles. It often happens after heavy rain and we always said that the rain had made the dust settle. Everything looks so clear and so much closer than normal :)

    1. We didn't get rain but i believe it was raining further south (Crete). We like that our sky has some puffy little clouds to make it interesting for a change from endless blue.

  7. The other night our power went out and I went out into the dark dark night to see if there were any lights in the neighbourhood. There weren't. A bit creepy but the lights of Piraeus on the horizon were incredibly clear and bright. I should have flashed you a signal. With a torch

    1. All of Piraeus would have flashed back - and then sent a rescue boat or something!
