Rain

The land needed it, but why this week?

After some discussion which I endeavoured to sleep through,  my humans wrapped me in a beach towel,  did a dash for the van, and we went 'on tour'.

This time we found cheese factories, but their shops were all in the town.  We got directions though, and finally F got "CHEEEEEEEESE".

She's happy.

This is your virtual tour: see here and here and here

Last night Mr B was watching a Spanish tv programme dubbed in English with Greek subtitles about farmers on marginal farmland diversifying into growing legal hemp to increase their returns from the land (to try and encourage young people to be farmers for a living instead of abandoning subsistence for a life in a city). Oil from the hemp seeds is used in pharmaceuticals - particularly skin creams. The seed husks are made into flour, and the leaves are used for making beer.

F says hemp oil paste was the best thing she ever used for rough heels and cracked gardener's  hands.  For years she has been unable to get it.

The cheese shop was (perhaps oddly) selling this

...so we got some for Mr B (who suffers miserably from cracked heels).  He might be happy....

I claimed the driving seat - so I'm happy.

We're all happy.....

  1. Well, I suppose if the soap doesn't work he can always try smoking it?

  2. Jackpot I would say, rain and cheese. Pity it had to rain though to find the cheese.
I found something else today with cannabis. I almost ordered it. Was it tahini or some sort of jam. Darn, next time I'll order it and try the stuff.
Worth it just to show off the label

    1. Oooohh if you do get either tahini or jam with hemp do a blog post about it. Angela (below) says it yummy. We are prepared to support something that is produced by small boutique farmers and makers.

    1. I've seen dogs riding motorbikes and scooters here (either lying on the tank with paws on the handle bars, or standing on the step through bit of the scooter, paws on the handles), so I reckon no one would turn a hair at a cat driving a car.... The rain has cleared the air and washed the streets. The loungers are being collected off the beach now though. F doesn't mind - she's not a lounger user. xxx Mr T

OMC Tigger, I was drooling over all those websites... but of course, all 'traditional' so no vege options. Sigh... I do hope F and Mr B enjoy their 'plunder' though - and that the soap does indeed help the heels. Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx

    1. F reckons the soap won't fix the heels on its own, but buying it might helps some small innovative producer of soap. Xxx Mr T

    1. Now that they have seen it on tv, they are looking out for more (legit) hemp products. There are a few innovative new farming industries that are trying to revive incomes for people working the land. Stevia is a fast expanding one here. Pomegranate seed oil is another exciting new thing here too.

    1. That is all they ate for their evening meal - cheese and grapes (it's the season and grapes are €1/kg). Nothing interesting to a cat!

  7. oh man you can't not have cheese! In the town we use to live in there was a cheese shop that imported cheese from around the world - we found a really nice smoked cheese. I miss that place.
