HOME

We are home.

I have claimed the high ground on my condo.

F is catching up with her work.

Mr B is cooking meals and arranging a yacht delivery job for later this month.

Donkey went and fetched fruit and vegetables this morning. (He might have had some human assistance.)

The view from our balcony is as good as any view we have rented on our travels - so why do humans travel?

F says that, among other things, it is so that we understand and appreciate that the view from our balcony is that good.

This used to hang beside our door in our UK house:

It is hiding in a sideboard here.  F inherited it from her maternal grandmother, so it invokes more than one sentiment for her.

There are lots of humble homes in this world that are full of love, warmth, bonhomme, music, laughter, sharing, the smell of good food, a sense of safety and familiar comfort (and a pet perhaps).

Christmas decorations will be coming out soon.  I love eating tinsel.  At this time of year charities remind humans to care about those who have 'less than'....  We must try harder to care about them all year round.  Travelling teaches us that too.

  1. Right, I’m crossing my fingers and hoping for the best here……comment go through, comment go through.
It’s good to see you have returned safe and sound Tigger, also your beloved F & Mr B. I’ve been reading about your escapades and quietly seething as each of my comments just sit there mocking me. Bridges, ravines, windows, wineries were all noted (as well as naughty persons destroying other people’s property…yes you Tigger!)
    Yes, it’s certainly true…East West - Home’s Best.

    1. We've got you. And we have been reading you too - we managed to attach you to our blogger reading list AND we get you by email. We hope you are all settled in again and ready for a good growing season (if your wet summer predictions prove true).

  3. Welcome home. Great view there!
Don't eat the tinsel... you'd be in trouble if you walk past a magnet shop.

  4. My grandmother had a plaque just like that - I can't remember the inscription, but I bet it was similar.
Good to catch up on Tigger after a while away from the keyboard.

Yup, 'tis true, Tigger mate; we can become complacent and even jaded of what we view from our windows - no matter the beauty. Travel sorts that out. Mostly. Glad you are all back and the world is settling into its proper form, even for Donkey. Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx

    1. F finally got over her jadedness with her work by the time we were halfway through our second tour. It sort of seeps away unnoticed and then one day you realize you are on holiday. Properly. So when we got back the usual readjustment wasn't done with leaden feet.

  6. you do have a lovely view and your home IS your home sweet home, as long as there is the 3 of you. Home is where the heart is, not a building. glad you are safe at your homestead. maybe people have a little of gypsy blood or nomadic genes. there are zillions of people who love to travel...
