They build long cars in America don't they?
This one was languishing in the garage at the hotel we stayed at in Olympia. It was accompanied by a collection of vehicles of various styles and ages from all around Europe and offshore islands - including this Land Rover in a bilious shade of green.
In the top picture you can just make out the Land Rover at the far end of the garage and you can get an idea about comparative lengths.
In between and dotted about were some Jaguars.
Round the back an old Mercedes fire truck was slowly rusting into the hedge, and on the other side of the carpark an ancient bus - the kind that had rounded ends and a bonnet (American 'hood') over the engine, and about the same length overall as the Caddy - looked like it was waiting for a devoted 'traveller' to turn it into a hippy home bus. My humans could just see it painted with rainbows and flowers..... poor bus.

ReplyDeleteMy word... all that potential. At least the peeps didn't seek to trade up to that bus from your little grey van... hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx
If they did they would have painted it to match the Land Rover.
DeleteWhen Gail worked in Oklahoma the company assigned her a 1970's era gas guzzler (a Chevrolet Caprice Classic) and all her American colleagues joked about her needing a pair of binoculars to see to the end of the 'hood'.
ReplyDeleteA good experience to add to the life story - we assume Gail would never have bought, hired, or borrowed one with such obvious parking disadvantages if left to her own choices. On the other hand maybe that was the best time in life to give everything a go ....
Deletethat long car looks to be about the mid to late 70's I think. there are not many long cars left on our roads, most are in collections. but we do have BIG Suv's now that suck up gas..
ReplyDeleteGas sucking might not be much of an advantage from now on. Think big, think bigger might be a out to go through a 'fashion review'.
DeleteThat's 'about' to go through.....(typing in bright sunrise...that's her excuse anyway)
DeleteI'm so glad the Land Rover we had wasn't that colour! It is hideous :)
ReplyDeleteA real countryside colour - say what!
DeleteNow that is a bright green. You’ll never lose your car in a full carpark if it looks like that
ReplyDeleteMy hubby and son would be In heaven.
Both mechanics and both car crazy
They would have been well entertained at that place, as would F's brother who also salivates over vintage tractors (of which there were quite a few). F's brother has been selling off his muscle cars - including some kind of very special Monaro - but the tractors are still in his sheds.
