Daily they cast themselves on our balcony, exhausted, expiring.
Having travelled many many miles from their genesis - allegedly in Africa - they expel a quiet sigh as they settle on the cold tiles and adopt again their earthly forms.Dust to dust.
Some seek out company in this foreign land - ashes to ashes, fur shed by a Tigger, tumbleweeds in grey.
A few are gathered and offered reverently to gardens and potted plants where their souls might bloom in other ways, but most are lost on streets and mountains, rooftops and rocks, are washed into or settle on water and will, in millenia, join the sediments that gather in the deep.
Millions of tonnes of African angels.
Interesting and creative post today. I wouldn't have thought to take a photo of 'dust angels'!ReplyDelete
PS No dust here in Torridon, just mud!
It looks like that dust is quite a problem! I love you calling them 'angels' - a bit like the dust 'bunnies' that find a hiding place beneath my bed :)ReplyDelete
How nice to have Angels as immigrants.ReplyDelete
I don’t know where our dust comes from, probably all the paddocks and dirt roads in the areaReplyDelete
Add a wood fire and dust in this house is almost like another lodger!
....ohhhhhhhhhh... Tigger, this moved me deeply. Thank you... 'sall I can say. Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx
this proves you can write interesting words and a story about any or all things. Dust Angels, love it. and when they start leaving the coast of Africa they come accross the Atlantic Ocean and make hurricanes to attack our shores.ReplyDelete
There are lots of insects we rarely see because they just can't survive in the dry arid environment here....but if we did get those, we probably wouldn't even notice. Everything is so dusty during windy season. I enjoyed your photos!ReplyDelete
They look like works of abstract art.ReplyDelete
Which suggests a lot about how abstract art is created.Delete
I don't know if I'd classify dust as angels, although Bruno would probably be pawing at it trying to figure it out, Mr Cat would just sit there and judge.ReplyDelete
