Rose Gold

We can smell the smoke. We can see it hovering in the west of our view obscuring the sunset and filtering the light to pinks and oranges. Windows way off to our east reflect a whole suburb of rose gold brilliance.

F sculled back and forth, back on forth, the glowing windows faded to a few glowing red embers.....   darkness fell.

It's fire season again. Already people have been made homeless by fires.

If this was a holiday you would be sitting on the balcony with a cold beer and absorbing the balmy warm of the evening.  We stopped at the park on the way home from work 3 evenings this week. It is a small privately maintained public park with well watered grass and clover to sit on, and we lounged on the lush cool greenness in the shade of a selection of ornamental trees.  Just as we were getting comfortable lawn surfing our peace was disturbed by an invasion of children wanting to smooth out the cat.

The thing about kids is you start with 2 and more just materialize like wasps around a picnic.

In the end F had to rescue me from near death by over petting, and we probably can't go back there.

It's exhausting being a superstar.

  4. It must be. No privacy and the paparazzi following you around.
Stay inside and try to keep cool I pray the fires go out and no one gets hurt

  5. Oh Tigger, you need to learn to accept your superstar status and be gracious and welcoming to your fans. I just love it when little humans flock around me in the park. (But Gail is telling me the reason we go to the park early in the morning when there are no children present is to avoid me getting "over-excited"...)
    Toodle-oo!

  6. beau wishes he were there with you, they could over pet him all they want and you and F could rest and relax. Tigger you would love our back yard, lizards and frogs and butterflies and all those cool jungle spots to wander in. it's hot and humid but you are hotter right now than we are, stay safe and prayers those fires will not burn homes

  7. There's something about cats that kids just flock to, I know whenever we take Bruno out for a car ride people swarm around him wanting a cuddle.
