Just when you think Spring is all over and is blitzing our backyard in a haze of falling petals, the real debutants of the ball arrive late at the party....
In the last couple of days the 'municipal' planting on roadsides between home and the railway station (where Mr B and I sometime go to pick up F if it is raining hard) had sprung to life.
In Greece the street-side trees had less showy flowers, but heady scent and produced some fruit that we could use to make marmalade, but you have to admit when you see cherry blossom, that nature also loves to produce a 'flounce'.
Cherry blossom; like big girls' frilly knickers.
ReplyDeleteWe have a tiny cherry tree in our garden but it does now have some pretty white blossom just about emerging.
...and little girls' frilly petticoats (if my observations on F making little party dresses are anything to go by). xxx Mr T
ReplyDeleteand flounce it is!!! I love cherries and all fruit, so does my Mama. I agree with your comment on my blog, scents tell the whole story and there are thousands of story in the park. these photos are stunning..
ReplyDeleteMy uncle died when the cherry blossoms were in bloom. They always made her sad and think of him when she saw them in flower.
ReplyDeleteF's Dad died when the dogwoods were flowering and she understands how it makes an association.
DeleteOh Tiggers ~ you are adorable ~ beautiful blossoms too ~
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

ReplyDeleteMy word, Tigger, dear... with all that pink around we needed a bit of your hunky-doryness for balance! Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx
Tigger, you and the cherry blossoms are both extremely pretty. There is no need for it to be a competition.
ReplyDeleteHappy Nature Friday.
Toodle-oo!
Nobby.
The cherry blossom is gorgeous. I've just been out walking and taking photos of Greek blossoms. The almond trees finished a month or so ago. Now it's daisies and those red poppies. And green everywhere. Oh I love green
ReplyDeleteWe remember the brilliance of wildflowers in rural Greece at this time of year - purple and red anemones.....
DeleteBeautiful trees. Makes me want to go out and plant a heap for spring
ReplyDeleteWho knows. Maybe I will when they start to sell bare rooted ones
