Knitted Shawl

1.5 metres (5 feet) on the short sides, this half a square (right angle triangle) shawl is knitted (by me) out of pure Norwegian wool, sportweight approximately (would be a 5-ply I guess in NZ terms).

I think I finished it just before I left Greece (Oct 2022), and it has languished in my office/sewing room since then.  Why do I not use it?  Not sure; possibly the colours.  It looked vibrant on the ball but the long changes have produced stripes that challenge my eyes/vision.

Does anyone out there want it?  If I get more than one reply on that I will put the names in a hat and post the result inviting the successful person to send me their address (I moderate all comments so if you send me some personal information I can promise it will not go up on the published comments) and I will post it more or less anywhere in the world (just for the fun of hoping that it gets to go somewhere that I personally might never get to visit).

  1. Impressive work but I'm not really a shawl wearer. I hope it finds an appreciative home.
    Cheers, Gail.

    1. Me either, but the one I do have I wear backwards, crossed at the back of the neck and tied again in front as a big scarf with plenty of chest cover.

  2. I’ve already got a couple so am passing this one up.
Just letting you know all your recent comments have gone into my spam folder so I’m wondering if you’ve changed anything. New email address maybe or new server- not sure they’d make any difference but you never know.
Love the colours btw as well as the lacey pattern

    1. Haven't changed a thing (not to say that Blogger hasn't though). I have one commentator (with a blogger account) whose comments always go into spam - have done for years and there is nothing that either of us can do to fix it so I just check the spam every day. Wordpress has made quite a few changes recently I notice - sometimes incompatibility just happens....

OOohhh, is that one of those multicoloured yarns? I've just invested a some to see how I go with it - am so used to mixing and mathching my own colour choices, I am not sure how I will go with 'fixed lengths' - as you discovered here, it seems. I do adore a shawl... visitors to DoWY may have noticed! But because I make so many myself, I am wishing for this one that it wings its way across land and sea, to hug and be hugged. YAM xx

    1. Of course I know you are more than capable of producing your own - and at a prodigious rate too. Yes - I had hoped the colour changes would have been a bit more random (shorter would have been useful), but the fixed lengths just produced narrower and narrower stripes.

  5. I imagine your shawl must be very cosy. Not a shawl wearer myself but I hope it finds a nice home.

  7. I love the idea of making a shawl but would never wear one. I did try. I crocheted one, loved the process but not the result. Hope you find a taker

    1. I can always unravel it and knit it into something else.

  8. I think it’s a wonderful shawl.
I’ve made a few in my time and I never use those either. I’m hoping once menopause goes for good I’ll start to feel cold and then maybe I’ll use the ones I made.
If that never happens I’ll be like you and donating them to whoever likes them I guess
