Squeaky Wheels

We have been flying again.

Plane take-off was delayed a couple of hours by a passenger 'taking ill' before boarding had even completed.

Great start to a holiday.

Now we are lazing about on a balcony overlooking seawater in a very 'out of the tourist zone' part of a country that earlier this month celebrated 50 years of independence.

So out of the tourist zone in fact, that the village only has 1 ATM (hole in the wall, cash macine) which has been out of commission for over a month and no one here accepts card payments.

It's a three day camel trek to the next town/village where they only have one petrol station... or rather HAD until it closed down over a month ago leaving the residents to drive up here for their fuel, armed, we expect, with cash from their working ATM to pay for it.

Oh and the local ampbibian population makes a ruacous night time chorus that sounds like so many squeaky wheels, or some lopsided overhead fans looping lazily around crying out for maintence.

OOhh, Grenada, methinks! Have some vlogpals who have family connection and spent two months there at the end of last year. I have a tad of tropical envy right now, from near-zero temps... YAM xx

A tad too rustic for me. I enjoy my comforts these days.
