Anna asked for black buttons. I had only 6 of my preferred ones but found 7 matching in a box of bits gifted by an acquaintance who was having a house move clear out. That's another tiny bit of stash leaving the house.
Years ago working in Seoul, I went into a market where clothing factories view and order the stuff they use to finish their designs - buttons, zips, trims thread etc, and I never imagined that so many different designs, colours, sizes and types of buttons existed in the world.
I hope that she will. Some people don't understand yarn thicknesses etc and I suspect the result was not entirely what she had imagined when she chose the design.
That must have taken an age to knit - looks like 4ply. It’s a long time since I knit an adult size garment so more claps on the back for you Great colour combo and you have beautiful even tension. Hopefully we’ll see it with fastenings
DK actually and about 3 weeks of intermittent attention. I spend 9 hours of every week sitting on a train so that gets a lot of knitting done - especially when it is DK.
PS kind of you to comment on the tension - I don't think it is great because I taught myself to knit like Norwegians but their 'pearl' rows are (turning the R) are laborious so I knit with yarn on my left hand and pearl with yarn on my right hand and can see the effect in the end result. I prefer jumpers that simply go round and round knitting form the right side all the way. I have even considered knitting steeks so that I never again have to try and do a multi-colour pattern from the wrong side.
What a lovely sweater!
ReplyDeleteThank you. It was a request by a colleague - her choice of pattern.
DeleteNice work. Metal buttons?
ReplyDeleteJust in time for the next cold snap!

Deleteits beautiful, I like the pattern and the colors. you will not have to MOVE those buttons, ha ha.
ReplyDeleteI think I remember your talking about this a while back. She'll be very happy.

ReplyDeleteIt's delightful - I am sure it will be loved and admired for many years! YAM xx
That's very clever. My aunt use to knit jerseys and cardies, I'm not that artistic.

DeleteCongratulations. What a lovely cardigan. It's a long time since I attempted knitting anything requiring buttonholes!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Gail.
Buttonholes are easy - what is not easy is remembering to put them in the right places.
