It has been a bit of a nature week with all those backyard chronicles. However fauna aside, here is some flora for Nature Friday. Visit Rosie and Sunny and the joy they spread with their views on nature's beauty around them and on their travels.
OK the rhododendron looks pink in that company.... it is probably one of the much reviled kind that is despoiling the woodlands of wild England but after 15 years of putting up with the ragged thing we inherited in the top corner of our garden it has finally put on a display. Maybe it appreciated the sticks and branches I piled under it last year (a) to clean up the bramble patch that had become the top of our garden while we were in Greece and (b) because we are being asked to create cover for wildlife by leaving some open log heaps and compost piles about.
I do love a rhodie... or an azalea would do too...
ReplyDeleteI see the Chelsea Flower Show commentators are saying purplish colours are all the trend right now - your selection is very fashionable! Your rhododendron is spectacular :)
ReplyDeleteThe volunteers have worked very hard over a number of years to clear the invasive rhododendrons in the local woods. They have been transformed, but it's an ongoing process.

ReplyDeleteHave you come across Michael Blencoe? He's an expert on the nature of Sussex and gives very entertaining and informative talks.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite colour.
ReplyDeleteWe saw lots of the first flower while there last year and have no idea what it’s called.
Very pretty and bees loved it
Onions. (It's some kind of ornamental onion.)
DeleteGotta love purple, love rhododendrons too, would love to plant one here but they get so big.
