I was following a youngish chap up the escalator into the supermarket the other day and noticed (as he was wearing shorts - it's summer after all) that he had one human leg and one steel leg below the knee.
The human leg had an arrow tattooed on the calf pointing to the steel leg, and the words 'one foot in the grave'
That is a sense of humour I identify with.
We met a man in the Mud Duck cafe in Whanganui with a barefoot prosthesis....five years later we saw him in the soapbox derby during vintage weekend...with his gumboot prosthesis.

ReplyDelete😄 Good on 'im! YAM xx
I love people who have a sense of humour.
ReplyDeleteI bet it makes many people smile rather than pity him.
ReplyDeleteThat's brave humor!
ReplyDeletemade me laugh, I love it and him, yay for that great sense of human and it is true. I am so glad that now they have all these prosthesis that can let the walk as well as they did and even with 2 they work so well. I saw a man at the store this past week end with shorts to his knees and 2 fake legs. I loved the dancer that was on Dancing with the stars, who had a dancing prothesis. so glad you shared this with us
ReplyDeleteDon't hide it - celebrate it:-)
ReplyDeleteHave you ever watched 'The Last Leg' on Channel 4? Proof that sone amputees have an excellent sense of humour.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Gail.
