Procrastination is an art form. I rolled weedmat onto a path to be. You will note the wee dog immediately acknowledged the thermal value of the black weed suppressing stuff. I wandered about kicking clumps of gorse and making coffee last as long as possible. There was the pointless exercise of pleating the weedmat to make it follow a curve. We walked a bit and scavenged some planks off the beach...
Oh dammit I'll just have to get on with this. There's no point wishing someone else would just waft in and whizz bang it's all done. Measure. Measure again. 5mm drop over 10 metres of distance said the instructions. I made it 10mm over 8.5 metres, pulled a string really tight marked the positions a half metre apart and drilled and screwed the brackets. 3 screws each. I nearly went cross-eyed trying to get them precisely on the mark. With measurements like those instructions (less than a quarter inch of fall over about 33 feet) a half a millimeter might make the whole system overflow in the middle instead of pour out one end.
Who knows? Maybe it's all more robust than that.
From an eyeball point of view they look OK. What's a millimeter between friends?
I finished the second side before rain set in today. Wee dog, unwilling or uncomfortable supervising in the face of an impending rain storm disappeared. She timed her reappearance perfectly with the completion the day's set task, bringing with her a clearly much prized, very tooth-marked and dead, rugby ball. (Her human sisters are provincial representative rugby players.)
*Kick.
Race off and intercept.
Chew and return. Wait expectantly.*
Repeat from* to* endlessly.
Wee dog is panting like a steam train but is so excited that someone is kicking her rugby ball for her. She's been waiting weeks to show me this. She brought the ball up last weekend and I made her take it back (thinking she might have hijacked it). She is nothing if not persistent. Now it will live outside my caravan door it seems. Daily rugby sessions in the boat trailer park will likely be built into our afternoon walk to the jetty and back.
Wee dog has you just where she wants you!
ReplyDeleteDid the guttering hold up to the rain storm??
I've only got the brackets up. I have at least two more sessions of procrastination before this will be a working system. I await parts....
