Warrant of Fitness, something all vehicles in NZ need to legally be on public roads. Only some licenced places can do the testing and issue the stickers. The further one is from a population centre the harder such places are to find.
Also on the walls these interpretations of Marlborough landscapes are vibrant and appeal to me.
Remarkably there is such a place in Rai Valley, which can't exactly be described as a population centre. The rural engineering place that does WOFs is opposite the cemetery - nothing else remotely urban to be seen in any direction.
Farmers use this place.
Maybe they eventually get buried in the cemetery too.
Rai Valley is miles away and the engineers were kind enough to give me a pointer for a place in Havelock. Said place hadn't appeared on an internet search for WOF testing garages so I was grateful for the directions.
A nice man called Tim is currently doing the medical exam on the rattly van down in the port area while I am making a coffee last as long as possible in a main road cafe and waiting for my laundry to finish it's cycle at the opposite end of the village. It is important to use trips into town for as many things as possible.
Messages from a hardware store in Blenheim advise the spouting(guttering) for the cabin has arrived in store.
It's raining again (or still) - which reminds me I forgot to empty the rain gauge this morning - I'm torn between putting up spouting (and collecting water at last) and continuing indoors on the linings. At least it is dry indoors. I don't mind wet but I don't have anywhere to hang up dripping clothes and umbrellas, and wash away mud.
I hope the van passes it's medical.
The cafe displays art by local creators. I am rather taken by some cyanotypes here and would like to see more of this artist's work. Unfortunately her website is a form of social media that I'm not registered in (and don't want to be) so tracking her down is going to be an old-fashioned challenge.

I looked up how to- cyanotypes- Cool designs and since we are headed into summer sunshine (sometimes) I may give it a go. I remember living out @ Great Sheephurst farm in Kent- having to get everything done in town in one day every month - it does improve organizational skills! We had to go to Royal Tunbridge to take our one month REAL bath in the bath house for 50 P.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the bold landscapes! Great color!!
Oh for a bath house😁
DeleteWe have the same thing. Only we call them road worthy certificate
ReplyDeleteWe not only do them for cars, but also for trucks.
I’d definitely choose doing inside work.
And trailers- I have one I need to get tested.

ReplyDeleteMy sister is good on the cyanotype creativity... I can understand the appeal - as indeed with the bright and cheery scenic interpretations. Finger's crossed for a clean bill of road health! YAM xx
Passed - all good.
DeleteI really love those landscapes and would hange a couple here in a jiffy. Not sure that Mr Grumpy would approve though.
ReplyDeleteNot so very expensive either - the gallery across the road on the other hand ... second mortgage might be needed to purchase from over there.
DeleteI really like the last two photos - even though (or possibly because) there are large areas of same colours I think they would make great jig saw puzzles
ReplyDeleteI love the way they capture iconic countryside in fairly simple lines.
DeletePS those stripes are vineyards by the way - acres and acres of sauvignon blanc....
DeleteI like Marlborough wines when I (rarely) drink and those bright paintings really appeal.
ReplyDeleteMulti-tasking takes on a different character when people live in remote areas, as you do. I'm glad, for you, that your van passed with flying colours.
we used to have the car check up but don't now. each state is different and I can see how hard it would be to get things done all at one time visit from where your cabin is.
ReplyDeleteThe landscape pictures remind me of Clarice Cliff pottery. I would love some of them.
ReplyDeleteI like those Marlborough landscapes....
ReplyDeleteThere was a small gallery adjacent to the Saint Clare vinery café/restaurant where the bike runs usually finished...there was some really good work there.
Trailers here don't get a WoF/MoT test...they should!!!!
Stay dry x
Blogger seems to be having publishing problems...or it is me!! Taking more than one go to publish...but of course it disappeared THEN told me there was a problem!!
ReplyDeleteAha...it liked that one!!
ReplyDeleteThose images of Marlborough landscapes are good. There was a small gallery by the St Clare Vinery café... really good work there..and good coffee and food too in St Clare's.
Trailers here should have a separate WoF!! I liked Rai valley...and the road sign there.
Stay dry ! x
The landscapes are colourful, very true to the scenery there with the vineyards etc. Hope you passed the WOF, mine is due in October.
ReplyDeleteRandom question. I need to get a WOF and Havelock is pretty close to me. Do you know the name of the WOF place please?
