Fencing

18th and 21st July are the dates the Sparky has finally given me to wire up the cabin. It's been a long wait.  His original guesstimate was mid-June and I have had the interior work on hold pending the wiring since the second half of May.

Fortunately it hasn't been wintery cold so plenty of other stuff is getting done and I'm ready to start fencing the area that will be the veg garden.

Former owners of the adjoining property must have had a rather laissez faire attitude to surveyed boundaries and put up a fence that is about two and a half metres into my property. Both I and the new neighbours arrived here within weeks of each other about the end of last year and within a short time were shaking our heads and laughing over the line the fence had taken. It is such an obvious dog-leg you have to wonder what the fence builders had been smoking that day.

A third neighbour (not affected by this fence) has taken it upon himself to straighten things out. I'm not sure why - we would get around to it one day. Shared cost is a consideration and we both have more important things to invest in right now. (They are living in an uninsulated metal garage. My caravan is a luxury!)

Anyway with Lance undertaking the refencing, (he clearly needs something to do) I decided to award myself a holiday and go visit Fergus. (Scully is OK - it's school holidays and her humans are at home during the day to keep her company.)

The reclaimed land will form part of my veg garden. I had already allowed for it but have decided to leave off building my rabbit-proof (chicken-, weka-, and goat-proof) fence until the boundary has been restored now that it looks like it's going to happen imminently.

Someone needs a haircut

  2. Waiting for other people to come and work is frustrating. I hope it all goes smoothly.

  4. In England the side which the fence posts were on was always the ones who owned the fence. I look forward to seeing your raised beds TM.

Hello Fergus ol' mate, how'dya be? (Apart from the long bangs...) Hope you gave F a big warm waggly welcome and sniffed around at all those (very pretty) Scully smells. I'm glad that F is getting a break and that things are going to move along a bit more up at the ranch. Now, go give her a tail wag and nose kiss and make use of every minute you have with her! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  7. Oh yes. A caravan is much nicer than uninsulated shed. I’d be hitting the second hand shops for blankets I can hang on the walls
Can’t wait to see the photos of all your fences once it’s all done
