Clearance of gorse and blackberry on the veg garden boundaries progressed quite efficiently - interspersed with episodes of doink-ball.
F has announced this will be the new doink-ball arena;
…she has even laid out a curve where she will install grandstand seating (after the photo was taken).
Notice the pile of rocks gathered off the surface (or from around roots of hoary old gorse stumps) is bigger than the pile of biomass removed. Doink-ball for scale - I refused to pose and went off to recover a beef bone I buried a couple of days ago.
I refuse to play on it yet - too many recent memories of gorse in my feet.
Note from F - Scully was sound asleep then suddenly awoke and rushed off in a strange direction. She must have just dreamed about hiding the bone and, reminded, dashed off to retrieve it. Next thing I know she is back on the woodchip path, triumphantly carrying said bone.
The newly cleared area, once levelled and suitably landscaped (gabions filled with rocks around part to create half walls) will be an outdoor seating and bbq area with a view of the water. It will need more finesse than I am capable of to create my vision for this 'arena', so I might have to lay it out and call in a hard landscaping team.

ReplyDeleteScully, you are surely a great help to F as she works her socks off!!!
F, that's mighty work... and the planned seating is gorgeous... here's to its eventual arrival!
Hugs to you, wags to the pup, YAM xx
That looks a good aim to have. Scully may be disappointed though!! Does it have its back to any prevailing wind?
