Shed

While not strictly finished (I have yet to fit up some more lasting attangement for windows and to fill in under the eaves) the shed that will ultimate become my 'fortress of calm', 'potting shed', 'garden retreat', is at least now weather-proofed: floor, walls, door, roof and flashings all done.

My first ever attempt at building from scratch - even dug, by hand, the holes for the piles.

Before it becomes any of those idealistic things it was be the repository of all things stored - bikes, tools, bits of potentially useful scrap wood, the charcoal oven, ....

I have visions of its 3.6m x 2.4m floor space being turned into an inaccessible jumble of stuff I wish we didn't own.

  1. It’s a nice sized shed.
Creativity is always messy. Well that’s what I tell myself anyway

    1. I've designed a space for messy creativity above the garage that will be built with the house - it goes by the grand name of 'studio'.

    1. It would be a good size for a bedroom and we have stowed that idea for a tiny cabin in 'the bush' (scrubland and low trees) at the end of our land - a place for teenage grandsons to claim when they visit.

    1. The man-cave/workshop has been designed on the end of the garage and general shed to be built with the house.

  9. Hi, TM, thanks for commenting on my blog. Nice to meet you, here.

That’s an attractive little building! I like the look of the external (support?) strips of wood.

    1. The external battens (1) cover joins in the plywood cladding and (2) make it look marginally less like a packing crate on piles 😂. The framing that is the support is all on the inside.
