Saturday Stitches

If you read here from time to time you might have crossed the post about using rhubarb leaves to dye some wool and hints that it would reappear later...

See the pale yellow with red dots?

It would not be wrong to surmise this project is made from a collection of leftovers and charity shop odd-balls of woolen yarn.

It's finished now but I still have to face sewing in all the tail-ends for each of those stripes.  The project has been on my to-do list for 3 or 4 years and now that the knitting is finished I've kind of lost interest in the tidying up bit of completion.  Dredging about in that 'executive function' power... I know... break the horrible bit into smaller targets.  I'll do the yoke this evening.

And just because I could, I tossed off that 'matching' hat for Mr B's jumper.

Hats are too easy in as much as it's a tempting quick finish project, but how many hats does any household need? I have at least 8 in the cupboard; all knitted since coming here - and dozens more in all the packed up household goods.

A volunteer at one of the charity shops where I scratch about for 'odd-balls' asked whether I could knit ear-flap hats (chullo) because they sell really well.  I guess it would be a good outlet for keeping the needles clacking.

Linking up with Yam Aunty's Saturday Stitches.

  2. aha, a new way to finance the house .. ha ha... how many hats with flaps would it take? we only have one hat similar to this, but bought from a store. Floirida is not known for needing hats. we need a mini AC to wear on our head right now

  5. That's a great sweater, interesting to study all the colors. I do like dyeing yarn, too.
