The neighbours pruned and tidied up the scruffy oleanders. Now
there is four times as much available garden, but here is nowhere for the cats
to hide. They can’t curl up and sleep hidden
from sight by low hanging branches and piles of leaf litter. Even F expressed concerns about that. Maybe she just didn’t want to maintain 4
times as much garden.
- Roses appeared.
- More geraniums.
- Some of those daisies that got stolen right at the
start. (They have survived this time.)
- Nasturtiums have grown from seeds the old ones dropped.
- Cold weather has ‘burned’ the sunflowers, basil and coleus.
The rain that started in late October made green weeds spring
up. It looked quite lush!
F came back from UK just before Christmas with a metal thing
in her bag, and asked G to attach it to a long handle. Within 10 minutes of pushing that around the
garden she had cut off all the new green weeds and stirred them into the soil.
OK – maybe 4 times as much garden is not going to be a
problem as long as the plants we want to keep and enjoy don’t get in the way of
that metal thing.
