Dangerous things live in water.

She's been hobbling a bit since last week when she cut her foot dancing about on the rocks underneath the edge of the sea, trying to catch rubbish.  Serves her right of course she should have been wearing shoes - who knows what sharp or spiky things live on those rocks.  They live in water for goodness sake, it goes without saying they will be dangerous.

Cat's know these things.

This morning I heard a yelp as she was meandering along the balcony, and glanced up in time to see her land again.  She asserted she'd stepped on something sharp, but she'd swept the balcony a mere 10 minutes earlier.  What did she think I'd been doing since - scattering tacks?

So there was the prodding about with a needle, the long soak in vinegar, the sticking plaster that didn't stick (with drawing paste on it), the insulation tape to hold that in place.  An hour or two later she was back from gardening and the laiki, and had clearly decided that it was more than merely a cut and the culprit was probably something sharp/spiky that had, over the course of the week, worked its way far enough through the leather on the sole of her foot to make contact with a nerve.  There can't be many nerve endings in her feet, but something sharp/spiky had found one.

So repeat paragraph above (minus the gardening and trip to laiki).  Eventually the mining expedition struck blood, and then...

Look at it:
Can you even see it?

All that fuss for this little thing.

To celebrate we went by Aunty Pili's and took her out for a coffee on our way to select catfood.

New cafe 2/10.  I don't like the froth it tasted like non-dairy whitener.  Pili liked her freshly squeezed orange juice.  We watched it being squeezed.

And we stopped at the butchers on the way home - half a chicken, F let me sniff it.  I've tried every communication technique in my repertoire since then to get her to put it in the oven.  She put it in the fridge - What's wrong with the woman?  That'll never cook it to a nice golden crispy skin and fragrant soft meat....

All I got for dinner was some tinned pate stuff that tasted like catfood.

    1. she have neoprene shoes. forgot to take them (or intended to wear fins and you can't go dancing around on rocks with fins on). lesson learned (for now).

  4. Ouch. Strange how something so small can hurt so much. I hope that chicken didn't remain too long in the fridge!

  5. I got Sunday roast (1/2) chicken. I always get the 'parson's nose' first (still warm, and crispy and dripping grease). The rest of it lasts me nearly a week and F say's it looks extravagant but it works out cheaper than feeding me processed catfood. Can you tell I don't mind?
