Question for a Tech Clever person

There is a "Search" box on the top right hand corner of my blog.  It's white.  For some reason the font a searcher types into it is also white.  That might be because my Blog Title is white, but we tried changing that and nothing happened to improve the situation with the search box.

It works as a search box, but you just have to trust that your search enquiry has been seen and is being digested, and then scroll down to see results, because once you hit 'enter' nothing (but nothing) changes on your visible screen and you'd be inclined to think the search box was just painted on.

Any suggestions as to how to change the stupid search box without changing anything else in my colour scheme would be appreciated - the background of the search box doesn't need to be white, or the font in it could be any other colour that is readable on a white background (including for people with challenged eyesight).  We think it is a 'gadget' but can't find where to mess with the appearance of gadgets.

I just can't get the staff these days!

  1. the only way to change it is go to the advanced and go down to gadget text. play with the colors and if you like it save....

  2. I wonder / suspect it is because the typeface colour you are using is white - as in these comments too. Try changing that and see what happens. Of try moving the search box lower in the sidebar (you go to layouts to do this.

  3. It is the same in your email subscription box too - I've just tried there too - almost certainly because your typeface is white.

    1. Thanks - I think I have fixed the email subscription box. Moving on... one fix at a time.

  4. Have you tried selecting Themes from the Dashboard and then clicking on Customise. If I do that it allows me to change font and background colours etc for mine.

Tell F that is an HTML task and that she and I can communicate via other channels to try sort this, okay? Changing the background colour would the prettier option... email incoming! H&W, YAM-aunty xxx

  6. Thank you everyone for comments - F thinks that search box position and white background might be a fixture of the theme we have chosen and, as pointed out the white font, might be the problem. We've chosen colours we find 'restful' and would willingly sacrifice the search box to our 'vanity'. YAM-aunty doesn't know what an indigestible lump she has bitten off endeavouring to walk F through html but we will give it a go. F has a week off work and nowhere she can go, so I feel technological supervision coming on. xxx Mr T
