Every day around 7am, this gentle man (and he surely must deserve the descriptor) walks slowly, limping slightly, past our place, taking small pieces of some delicious food out of a supermarket sized carrier bag, and distributing it to every stray cat that wants it.
We don't know where he starts his odyssey each day but we know that he finishes it in the neighbouring inlet, the one with the tiny fishing harbour, where he sits on a bench and shakes out the last of the food for the cats that call the inlet their territory.
Along the way virtually every cat that makes its home on the rocky coastline sets its wristwatch by his passing and knows when and where to meet him. In these photos 4 cats, but we have seen up to eight at a time out front and some of them chase him along from feeding stop to feeding stop, rubbing around his legs when he stops and enticing his tidbits to fall their way.

ReplyDeleteAwww - this is a fine example of capital 'ell' Love at work!!! Thanks for telling us about this dear fellow and the effect he has for the homeless ones. We need lots of his kind in the world! Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx
Oh yes Yamini is so right- the world needs more of these dedicated folk, those who help the helpless in whatever way they can. It possibly gives him (them) as the giver as much joy and happiness as it does the receiver.
ReplyDeleteI hope both you Tigger and the lovely Ms F are recovered from your weekend away. They do say a change is as good as a rest…….maybe not for you in this case but at least you now get a fuller appreciation of your quiet life in a high rise. Love to you both from Cathyx
awww what a good man, he's like the male version of a crazy cat lady which is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely man it’s probably the highlight of his day as well as the cats
