Not goin' anywhere. Not doin' anything in particular. Nothin' is particularly different, but it seems to have turned out to be a better day than most we have had around here in recent months.
There's a PS to this post. If you look closely at the food, on top of the grapes is a bunch of pink ones. F always buys grapes off the same brother/sister vendors. She likes the green ones. They always add a bunch of pink ones which Pavl calls 'fraoula'. (F thought fraoula meant strawberry.) Anyway, today they told her they were off 100 year old vines.
Why?
Who knows? What goes ping inside humans? Maybe it's that the temperature is below 30 degrees C, and F is wearing t-shirt and shorts again. She likes clothes with pockets.
I checked my internal wrist watch when the neighbours started garrumping about the back yard at 0430, gave it a few minutes and patted F awake. I got a back scratch. A bit later I went out to use the litter tray and on returning shouted at her. I got an ear scritch. She keeps falling asleep.
In the end after I patted her awake a few more times she got up and made my breakfast and went back to bed.
By the time she got up I figured it was unlikely that we were going to the office today. She read blogs for a while and then went for a very long swim - up and down, and up and down, and ....
It was only when she got back that she noticed that the boat she had seen while swimming had been laying a race mark (red thing)
Looks like we are going to have a front row seat on a yacht race.
F said she felt like treating herself to a croissant. She has contemplated Sophie's blog and Angus's assessments of various croissants for over a year, and feels the need for a pastry. So she set off to the laiki and the bakery that she favours in the same street.
(and a paper bag with 6 very mini croissants in it). She gave the last 50 lepta (cents) to the bazouki player. It should have been more....some people invest years developing their talent in arts and music and we wonder if they ever recoup a proper return on that investment.
First lap.
It looked like the race was twice round the course. On the second lap they were really strung out, and this guy was ahead by miles...
That's the Coastguard going really fast in the background. |
Tall and skinny |
And that's the Coastguard coming back for a 'rendevous' with the little boat on the left..... |
And this is the mark leaving again about 1600. The last boat was over 3 hours behind the first one.... |
And just for fun - because we could.....
And did you see the pigeon with an even more front row seat than I have?

ReplyDeleteI say, what an excellent Saturday session on your bloggy today, Tigger ol' chap. Thanks to F for pointing the lens at the sails and thanks to you for getting her to share that image of the BOUNTEOUS haul from the laiki for such little investment. I am not envious. No... ;~[} Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
You might be envious that she went back at the end of the day in the hope of getting some reduced price borlotti beans and came home with 7kg peaches for 50c/kg. Guess what she's doung today.... I'm renewing my acquaintances with my hammock. Fz & Pz Mr T

I wonder why yacht races are so compelling . We always feel the need to stop and watch if there is one going on out in the bay.
ReplyDeleteColour, ballet, battle, ... displays of skill and design meeting nature's 'tombola' or wind and water.
Deletewow that IS a birds eye view, more entertaining that a tv show for sure. you would not get all that food for 20 eu here, it would be almost double what you paid. fresh fruits and veggies are very high here, and we live in a state that grows year round. possibley because we have to truck them and pay truck drivers to get them here. bob prefers green over the colors, but i like the dark black ones, i buy which ever one is the freshest and not rotting. good way to burn off stress swiming and swiming and swiming
ReplyDeleteMaybe they are called strawberry because of the colour. I’d love to sit and watch the boats go by everyday. We are still in lockdown so life is definitely on the go slow
ReplyDeleteThere will be a lot of beautiful gardens, cleaned out homes and well stocked charity shops when the lockdown ends!
DeleteI had to look again, but, yes, I saw the pigeon!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to comment about the pockets. Pockets are seriousy under-rated, us females love our pockets - yes, places to put things!
