Blue Donkey

Following on from all those yellow donkeys, we were nearly flattened by a fast moving blue donkey last week.

We read it's name and I asked F to write it down but she said she could remember; it looked simple enough.  Now she forgets.

Names are important.

Blue Donkey looked a little more like an elephant than you would want of your every day donkey, but I have been reliably informed that there are parts of the world where elephants are beasts of burden even more than donkeys are.  (Some years ago, one of our allotment neighbours in UK went to visit and volunteer work in an elephant sanctuary where retired working elephants go to - she seemed to be a reliable source of information - at any rate I liked her allotment.)

Blue Donkey had an extending snout with a hook on the end.

Now I am on the look-out for red donkeys (or black, or purple, or any other variety of sub-species of donkey).

This....

is not a Donkey.

It does, however, stand out from a crowd and is the object of dispute between us.  The jury is still out on whether it is cool or yuck.  In matt grey (which looks like it escaped the factory in its primer paint), it is more or less donkey coloured - except for those wheels that seem to be inspired by a Japanese plum blossom design.  F says yuck. I could be more forgiving.  I like anything with wheels - the faster the better.

Trying to wink....

  1. What a strange looking car. You wouldn't get much shopping/luggage in the back. Perhaps that's why its rear end looks like it's frowning.
I do love elephants. A few years back we visited a South African elephant conservation reserve and managed to get quite close to a nursery group of them. Wonderful.

    1. Tigger not so sure about elephants being anywhere but on TV. You are right - it does look like it is frowning. I wonder if the designers considered that.

    1. I'd say stick to your 4-wheeler bike. it is probably more useful in the general scheme of things.

  3. Hard to know which way it’s going….the red lights should be a pointer shouldn’t they, but you never know….maybe they change colour at night. Love the door handle, I take it it’s a push button and the whole thing lifts up and over.
Lego could make it one of their extras

    1. Definitely a candidate for Lego - maybe that is where they got the original design idea from.

    1. No doubt easy to park, but you couldn't put a bike rack on it.

  5. It’s definitely a donkey only a mother would love. Although I do think the wheels look a little flash

Ooh, that's a Citreon Ami Electric Vehicle, Tigger dear... not pawtikuyoularly purrty, it must be admitted, but a pawsitive move for city...er.. moving.... It is limited to 28mph/45kmh and parks on a sixpence (other coins of similar appearance are available...) It would suit you every inch! Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx

    1. F has decided to eschew electric cars. Planet earth simply doesn't have the resources to make batteries to replace every hydro-carbon chewing car and truck currently on the worlds roads. What will happen? The wilderness gets raped, the wealthy get cars, and the rest of the world gets to walk or ride bicycles, (and deals with recycling the waste batteries). It isn't the answer, and it shouldn't even be part of the answer. There that's her say. I, the Tigger, still want my own one.

  7. It's a nasty stubby little car. Is my humble opinion.. Not that my opinions are ever humble.

  8. we have donkeys here that closely resemble this ugly little guy and the are called Smart Cars. Hubby and I say the person who drives one is not very Smart because we call then Death Traps. They are safer where you live but here in the USA the majority of the vehicles are HUGE and would smash one to smitereens. we have lots of car accidents because there are millions of cars and that is the recipe for accident disasters. bring us more. and your wink is adorable 😉😉

    1. We call those (not very) Smart cars - roller skates. Here they are generally the source of the very loud music that cruise around our neighbourhood late and night and in the small hours of the morning. We have even had them go past in a convoy of 20 or so - each playing different music at Wembley Stadium volume. Frankly we have no idea how they fit speakers big enough into such small cars. This Citroen electric one is even smaller.

  9. Hi Tigger.I nearly got knocked down walking at the side of the road the other day on roads built for horses and carts and tarmacadam and used by speeding cars. Those electric cars make no sound.
