Donkey Lane

That big yellow Donkey called JCB has been an exceedingly busy fellow.  He has dug a lane all the way down a side street nearby, watched while humans messed about in the trench, and overseen a little red Donkey (called Gehl - names are important) filling it in again.

When they have finished, humans direct a different kind of creature altogether that bounces all over it, then it gets squashed down more by a big yellow donkey with rollers instead of wheels.

Finally it gets a layer of brand new asphalt and we have a new, smooth, straight downhill, Donkey Track.

Seatbelted and ready for speed.

Speeeeeeeed......

    1. We sped to work this morning, rounded the last corner before the office and crashed (actually we side-swiped a cafe's planter box and came to a grinding halt) - I jumped down and continued on foot, just as F was accosted by a lawyer friend. She had to arrest my progress and try to make professional small talk all at the same time. We will try to set up some sort of camera on the move for you.

  4. Looks like the workers had a pub lunch between exhibit 1 and exhibit 2! Came off the straight and narrow into not quite hair pin bends…or is that a meeting of the ways made by another ‘gang’?

    1. Hadn't thought of that: Piraeus, like say Melbourne, has streets laid out in a couple of grid patterns. The two main grids come together at an angle and we walk down the bias-ways street that is the boundary between the two. All the intersections are where streets join at an angle. It creates these huge triangular intersections, that are generally used as large informal carpark spaces. That last photo just happens to be from our vantage point of standing in one of those intersections on a rare day that it is not full of randomly parked cars.

  6. Are they going to do the other side as well. Or is it, close enough is good enough
An attitude that seems to be used by our gangs of road workers

    1. There are branches that cross the road so assume they were renewing water pipes.
