Tree

While many topics and views of our holiday in Scotland remain to be shared, I have had in drafts (for ages) these views of an EX-tree which stands in some common land very near our allotment gates.

I love the statuary of it, contrasts of light outer and dark interior. It invites exploration.
And the surface texture on parts tells of time and colonies of other life forms. Even in death it has purpose and dignity.

  1. It has real beauty...and helps us understand it's structure and growth.

It's a stunner... (and I read the preceding post, but i'net very "thin" here so limited processing for comments! Hope all the sorting gets done without too much excess breathing!) YAM xx

  4. Sculpted by nature, and beautifully so.

  5. What sort of tree is it? It's very striking, and I'm glad it's being left alone.

    1. I think it was oak. There is the living remains of a double line of oaks that used to mark the line of our lane. When the town expanded and houses were built the lane was rerouted away from the trees that restricted its width. The remaining oaks march across some 'green space' and along the edge of the allotments.
