Nature Friday - Rocks

Are rocks nature?

This one just looked very awesome inside when it broke open in my attempts to dig it out and move it.

Here's some tiny flowers and a mushroom in case rocks don't qualify. (Photos taken in the autumn here.)

  1. Rocks may be the best thing about nature, to some. My Dad was a lapidarian in his spare time and a rock hound - spending hour upon hour combing the desert.

    1. I need someone with your Dad's (or Gail Reikie's) expertise to tell me about our rocks.

There would be no nature were there not rocks upon which to sit, or to break down into earth providing space for roots! This one's a beaut, verging on being flint-like. YAM xx

    1. Flints would be welcome (because of the soil types they tend to occur in). These are what my nephew terms leverite.
As in leave 'er right there.

  4. The tiny flowers are so pretty. You don't have to be big and bold to be noticed.

We had one in our previous garden that, when split open, resembled a loaf of bread. Looked good enough to eat!

    Those time flowers are lovely.
    Do you know the name?
It’s still mid winter here, going by the temps. But the days are noticeable longer now
And that’s not a bad thing at all
