Long Time

It feels like forever since I composed a post. Energy is being consumed by other things. Routine, changed for Mr B’s arrival, doesn't seem to have settled. Work to run a household has multiplied (no more cook once a week and eat the same meal for days). I can no longer live the simplest of lives - someone else's welfare needs considering and nurturing.

Scully meanwhile is also in school holiday mode - arriving late and then wondering why no walk, sharing her time and enthusiasm between two households. We walk when she does arrive early, we swim on hot afternoons.

This week has been special. Cousin Amy arrived last Monday. On Tuesday she walked from here to Nydia Bay and back in just over 4 hours.  I should have joined her but wonder if I could have maintained that pace.

Bro, SiL, and the young prince arrived on Wednesday accompanied by terrier Jock. They have spent nearly every day going fishing but they did bring with them a sea kayak we'd bought on an online auction site from a place they passed en route.  It means being able to get out on the water when conditions are a bit rough for the paddleboard.

Jock meanwhile has finally made friends with Scully and the pair of them keepp us entertained chasing one another about the place doing speed demons.

Another cousin from Aus breezed through on Thursday (with her husband and kids) - good to see her after so many years.

Amongst this we've been working on clearing some of the tall gorse on the overgrown third of our land. Before I moved here to live full time some unkind person cut down a number of the larger native trees in the overgrown part. It opened up light wells that have encouraged the gorse to grow back with vigour - just as shade was beginning to successfully suppress it.

I seem to be out and about without my phone these days - photos when I remember to do them.

Guess who squashed her 'puppy'!
