Drag

Scully here... F told me it's my job to report on our long walk. It started at this sign, so I had to keep her tied to a string and lead the way.

Our walk was mostly in trees so shady despite the day being high tempertures. (My human sisters have gone back to school so of course the weather has finally turned into summer.)

We met another walker. She was the warden from the DOC lodge in Nydia Bay and there was some human chatting.

The problem with dragging a human about on a string (even a retractable/extendable one) is that the human isn't primed to charge into the bush whenever there is an interesting smell to pursue, so I can't report on encounters with wildlife and have to resort to borrowing photos from F. She takes pictures of plants and scenery.

This one is called Urtica ferox by humans - fierce nettle (or ferocious nettle). That's the wildest thing we captured in a picture.

Here's me doing my tour guide bit

F found a flower case off a Nikau palm - boring but it amused her.  At least she didn't try to fit it on me.
F is trying to make me learn new words- like...

kayak
porridge
swim
cheese

I already know these words but they aren't at all as interesting or motivating as WALK.

We need sign language so I can tell her it's walk time. Even when I dance about and talk to her she doesn't always get the message and goes off doing laundry or gardening or something that needs supervision.

Today is a reading day she said.

Tedious.

Scully
ps - we did do 2 kayaking circuits of the bay; not as good as a walk but better than no outing at all.

Excellent leading, Scully mate! I like your marching style, too, ensuring your follower has to maintain a worthy pace. Good to let her stop and enjoy those little moments such as the water fall and fearsome plants. Am also glad to read that you appreciate the watery adventures... keep at it! 3. Bobs new hearing aids picked up the flowing water sounds and he said what is that? yay for better hearing. You sure walk fast and I am thinking you take 3 or 4 times the amount of steps F takes. You follow that path like an expert hiker. Not sure I could keep up with the two of you for 3 hours, maybe one if that. glad to see you are still having fun

  4. Humans don't realise how exciting and enticing the undergrowth is. It's just a pity that they're far too big to explore it.

  5. That nettle looks ferocious all right. Bravo Scully for keeping F safe. Even if she did get close enough to take a photo.

  6. I don't think I've ever seen that nettle but Scully sounds like he's onto it and more rearing to go on his walk.

  7. Oh yes. Trixie would agree with you. She stands at my feet looking at me like she’s trying a Jedi mind trick while periodically tapping my foot. I’m obviously a very slow human
