Apart from the dogs on the roof 'over there', the wildlife around here (fortunately) generally requires humans to get down on their hands and knees to see it. Some of it blends in particularly well with it's background. I guess that is design feature
Some of them were probably meant to blend well with their background and made a poor choice of backgroundF got really excited. It's just a moth for goodness sake. She reckons this one has 'eye spots' which are apparently meant to scare away (warn off) predators. That's a human theory of course; it might just be a moth thing (like painted claws are on some humans).
What's with painted claws anyway? Huh? Imagine if I painted my claws - you'd be able to see them coming. Claws are my stealth weapon.
Oh yeah and then there was this...
...my guess is that its former inhabitants also have stealth weapons.

ReplyDeleteOMC, Tigger, that is a most marvellous moth and a cute cricket and I am glad for you that the occupants of the hex-are-gones!!! Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx
Hex-are-gones. We like that. xxx Mr T
ReplyDeleteIt's called an Angle Shades moth ( I know about these things coz I'm fascinated by les papillons de nuit as they say in France) it is camouflaged to look like a twig.
ReplyDeleteTwig huh? F nearly plucked it off and threw it away thinking it was a dried leaf, so I guess it worked.
ReplyDeletemiaow tigger, - nowhere to dig - only creepy crawlies to chase, there are mice and frogs and birds here - it must be nice and warm there but i can lie inside on the carpet next to the sliding door window. i thought the grass was always greener but you dont even seem to have much grass. i think i will stay here for now. lots of purrs, phoebe.
ReplyDeletePhoebe - dead right. An English garden and a human house with a nice fireplace and some floor space behind a glass door facing the sun. What more could any cat ask for?
DeleteWhat a wonderful photo of the moth.
ReplyDeleteI've never noticed their colouring closeup.
Hope those dogs never manage to get out. They sound as they need a large paddock to get some exercise and not a roof top. But.....to na kanoume. What can you do
They might be nicer dogs if they got out a bit - on leads of course....
Deletethat fearsome wasp nest scares me more than a lion would... I hate those things and they do have stealth weapons. when i was 16 one dropped out of the nest which was on the ceiling of the porch to the church sunday school building. it dropped right down the back of my dress and I was screaming and it was stabbing me and mother dragged me in a room and stripped my dress and beat it off with the dress. after that I refused to stay in church when they got inside and started swooping around during the service. yep, poor choice on the moth with his flower... must have tasted good enough to make him forget he could be soon. notice I said HIM. he he he,.. love the shot of the grasshopper
ReplyDeleteNow you are in the realms of horror movie - like the day I was watching Mr B doing stuff with my bees and he suddenly shouted 'Tigger, run!". We both ran as fast as we could and all the bees came out and chased us. (I won the race, but fortunately Mr B managed to get inside too and shut the doors before the bees caught us.)
DeleteWe used to get lots of big moths here once a year
ReplyDeleteThen they stopped.
If I saw one now I’d get very excited as well
Painted claws, well mine are pained and it helps to make my hands look even more menacing
Hmmmm menacing aye? Hadn't thought of that. What colour would you recommend for a Tigger?
ReplyDeleteI have a thing about moths, for some reason they freak me out a bit, mr Cat seems to like playing tiwh them though.
