Hijacked

Mum wants to hijack my blog to publish a knitting pattern she has designed and written. I shouldn't let her do it but she isn't very tech savvy and she doesn't know how else to link it to her Ravelry account. She no longer has a blog of her own (deleted her old email address and locked herself out of the blog - stupid woman - but you can see the remnants of it here Mum's Baking Blog ) I'm making this as difficult as possible for her - sleeping with my face on the lefthand end of her keyboard. She has SHIFT and CTL on the other end but I have control of the letter A and my chin on the Caps Lock. She is very persistent, but she still hasn't worked out how to make it into a downloadable .pdf ( edit - oh yes she has Mr T -a lot can happen in 24 hours!) Oh alright then put it here but I disown the content from here on (unless there is money for catfood in it.......) pattern as .pdf file Koko Jacket and Hat Materials: 2 skeins Lanas Stop Norman...

Chopper

It clattered over the bay for a few minutes before it occured to me it seemed to be stationary over a friends place on the other side of the water. He's a fiercely independent old codger (I'll tell him I published that) who lives alone in an 'off-grid' house, on a steep hillside, surrounded by dense forest. He gives me tips on scrub-cutting and how to trap possums… I taught him how to fillet a pineapple 😁 His recent whitebaiting trip turned out to be shorter than he'd advertised and I got a message to say he was back and thanks for watering his strawberries (I hadn't - the gods took care of that); so I knew he was at home. Scuttling round my caravan for a better view I was in time to see someone being lowered out of the air ambulance directly beside his house (nowhere to land over there). S**T Turns out he'd dislocated his hip. The new joint had only been installed a couple of months back. He messaged me later from hospital to say - "pls look after my...

Fletches

Scully stayed over last night. Her family weren't at home when I tried to return her and I can't leave her outdoors there; she just comes running over to my place. Doggy pyjama parties shortcut the morning routine - as in: I start earlier because her alarm clock goes off at the time her family start their day (before 6am) - and we were out walking well before 8am so I decided it would be a good day to tackle the deerhunters' track up the ridge of the hill on our sunrise side. My friend of the dislocated hip had marked a route up there some years ago and told me where to find it. Remnants of his pink tape markers remained We got about 90% of the way up before I noticed that Scully was beginning to struggle with the steepness. She only has 3 good legs (one of the back having been damaged and pinned about 3 years ago), and none of them are long legs. Until I saw her pause and gather herself to do a small leap upward I'd never given much thought to how small nimble creatu...

Nature Friday link with the LLB Gang New Zealand native clematis has been flowering in small white splashes across the relentlessly green hillside. They are hard to get close to without climbing tall trees but I found one on the edge of the bush that I could kind of zoom on. Big zoom is fuzzy and not worth being a feature on the phone so I deleted the attemprs at anything really close up. It really is a beautiful flower but, I'm told, fearfully difficult to grow in a garden. A truly wild child. Free spirit.
