The moon looked more impressive than I captured it here. (Morning.) Rising - through trees. (Evening.) (Hadn't realized wee Scully had photo-bombed this one) Morning again...camera sees yellow/golds and purples I swear weren't available to a human eyeball/retina - but then similar effects are achieved trying to capture aurora in digital photos.

Stage 1

Rain, rain, and more rain. The sun came out eventually but it took a couple of weeks for things to move on from here. Every time the builders turn up - it rains.

Anti-Scurvey League

My sister visited and gifted us a bag of limes Three days later a neighbour called by bearing grapefruit We already had oranges and satuma mandarins Yesterday a different neighbour dropped in with a bag of lemons and more limes (!) That would once have been a sign from the universe to make lime marmalade but with sugar now being a banned substance at this address marmalade is a non-starter. Rum and lime juice. Thai curries with lashings of lime. Maybe I should attempt some hot lime pickles...

Still Here

I'm still doing alarm-clock for F and her spare human 5 or 6 days a week (7 if they are lazy about getting up on Sundays). Frost seems to delay their start of day some days. Yesterday it was frost laid down overnight topped by a dense fog that rolled in after daybreak. That hung around chilling bones until the sun rose above the hill about 1045 and burned all the white stuff away. F calls this "the sausage roll" - I prefer to tuck my head in… … like this Turning up late can be a bit of a lottery - some days there is porridge in my bowl, some days the humans have eaten all the porridge and left none for me. I levy a higher rate of cheese tax if there's no porridge. School holidays this week mean that although my human sisters are home, my humum is tearing about doing stuff to entertain them and I don't get to go along. Never mind there are builders to supervise at F's place and the days have turned sunny again so I can nap in the middle of F's paddock,...

Saturday Stitches

If you read here from time to time you might have crossed the post about using rhubarb leaves to dye some wool and hints that it would reappear later... See the pale yellow with red dots? It would not be wrong to surmise this project is made from a collection of leftovers and charity shop odd-balls of woolen yarn. It's finished now but I still have to face sewing in all the tail-ends for each of those stripes. The project has been on my to-do list for 3 or 4 years and now that the knitting is finished I've kind of lost interest in the tidying up bit of completion. Dredging about in that 'executive function' power... I know... break the horrible bit into smaller targets. I'll do the yoke this evening. And just because I could, I tossed off that 'matching' hat for Mr B's jumper. Hats are too easy in as much as it's a tempting quick finish project, but how many hats does any household need? I have at least 8 in the cupboard; all knitted since coming ...
