Photos

Digital makes such a difference to how many photos we take and store, over the days of developing films. My old phone didn't have a lot of storage capacity and when travelling (holiday or work) I would move photos from it to my tablet in order to free up space from time to time. The problem was that the tablet is also not over endowed with digital storage capacity and it too would 'max out'; refusing to hold any more. At that point the whole lot should have been transferred to the carefully curated directories of photos on my laptop computer. It was the process of the 'careful curation' that causes me to procrastinate. The exponential increase over the years in the number of photos I take and retain, means a few hours devotion to the task when I finally address it. I know, I know - little and often - but occasionally someone actually asks to see that photo you took on holiday last month; the one that any normal person these days has stored in their phone. Mr B

Nature Friday

Parade of geese at Kew Gardens - moving to a new grazing area. They probably keep the grass well clipped (and fertilized) and discourage humans from venturing onto the grass in large numbers. Our back yard crows having a hair-styling moment.

Hijacked

Mum wants to hijack my blog to publish a knitting pattern she has designed and written. I shouldn't let her do it but she isn't very tech savvy and she doesn't know how else to link it to her Ravelry account. She no longer has a blog of her own (deleted her old email address and locked herself out of the blog - stupid woman - but you can see the remnants of it here Mum's Baking Blog ) I'm making this as difficult as possible for her - sleeping with my face on the lefthand end of her keyboard. She has SHIFT and CTL on the other end but I have control of the letter A and my chin on the Caps Lock. She is very persistent, but she still hasn't worked out how to make it into a downloadable .pdf ( edit - oh yes she has Mr T -a lot can happen in 24 hours!) It's All About the Dogs...

... isn't it? On my birthday we made a special trip to the butchers shop for some chicken, and then onto the regular petfood shop where my biggest fans hang out (the call me 'The King'; I thought that was Elvis, but I'm happy to be treated as royalty). On the way back, we saw this sign outside a phone shop. It says "I wait here". It looks to me like a dog, but I wasn't aware that dogs could read, nor was I aware that dogs queued for smart phones. It isn't the first example of it's kind we have seen. Some have water bowls built in. The customer services extended to dogs got me thinking. Why dogs? Humans have been queuing outside phone shops (I know because I queued with F when she paid the internet bill). No one puts out bowls of water for the humans. Retail businesses are suffering for having been closed for months. Maybe they think offering special customer services to dogs will boost trade. Piraeus

Yo-yo. Back in Piraeus for 3 days. Primarily to deliver a patchwork quilt to a 3 month old wee lad called Theo. He might not appreciate the modernist cats it portrays but I hope he's on board with the colours. I wasn't exactly prepared for Piraeus to grab me by the throat. You know that choking up feeling? Some of that was passing cafes where my regular coffee companion was a certain tabby feline. Some of it a better understanding of the quality of life I had here. Being here in the COVID years, it wasn't always apparent at the time - or it was apparent and I was looking the other way. It's only a quick visit and two of the friends I had hoped to catch up with are on holiday out on islands of Greece, but there is plenty to fill a morning or an afternoon... swimming, checking out what has developed in the last two years (completed metro link to the airport, squares and gardens smartened up, fountains restored, buildings renovated,....).
